
How to Stay
Families traveling far from home call Ronald McDonald House Southern West Virginia “home” while their children receive medical. We work closely with our hospital partners to provide families with a comfortable and caring place to stay for as long as they need us.

Elegibility
- Patient (must be 21 years old or younger) and receiving medical treatment at an area hospital or appointment at an area physician's office
- Family must live at least 25 miles from Charleston, WV
- Referral submitted from a social worker at an area hospital or a physician's office
- Guests 18 years old or older must individually complete a background check and have photo identification at check-in
Only parents, guardians, and family members with visitation at the hospital can stay overnight.
Guest families can have visitors daily from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.

How do I reserve a room?
Referral from hospital social worker and background checks
- Family members must obtain a referral from a hospital social worker or from the referring doctor’s office (for outpatient appointments only). Only parents/guardians/family members with visitation privileges at the hospital are permitted to stay.
- Anyone
18 years old or older must complete a background check and have a photo DI upon check-in. Background check forms may be requested from your social worker or completed
on our website.
How many family members can stay in my room?
4 family members per room
- Only 4 family members can stay in a room at a time. Only one room can be requested per family due to limited room availability.
Can I have visitors during my stay?
Visiting hours
- Visiting hours at the House are from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. daily.
- A guest and a staff member must be present to sign all visitors in.
- Visitors are required to wear a visitor lanyard during their visit and must sign out when leaving the building.
- Visitors cannot stay overnight. Only family members who have an approved background check and have visitation at the hospital are permitted to stay.
What services are provided?
Families have access to the following during their stay
- Fully stocked communal kitchen with personal locker/food storage area
- Meals provided by volunteers
- Laundry room with laundry supplies
- Communal living room
- Playroom
- Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc.)
- Adult, children’s, and baby clothing
- Baby necessities (diapers, wipes, books, toys, etc.)
Is there transportation to the hospital?
Hospital shuttle
For families with patients at Vandalia Health CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital, hospital security provides a courtesy shuttle that can transport families to and from the hospital. The shuttle operates on an as-needed basis daily. A staff member will provide you with the information to contact the shuttle service when you check in.
Does it cost to stay?
No cost to families
There is no cost to stay with us. You are welcome to donate, but because of the generosity of our supporters, families are not required to pay for their stay.
